What Happens During a Pediatric Hearing Test? Understanding Speech Testing

We’re excited to release our latest animated video that explains how pediatric speech testing is performed during a pediatric hearing test.
In addition to traditional sound testing, audiologists often perform speech recognition testing using pictured words or age-appropriate speech materials. During this portion of the hearing test, the audiologist presents speech at different volume levels while asking the child to identify words or pictures they hear.
This process helps determine:
How well a child can hear speech
How clearly spoken words are understood
The softest level at which speech can be recognized
Whether hearing difficulties may impact language development
Our new animated video was created to help parents, caregivers, students, and clinicians better understand what happens during a pediatric hearing test and how pediatric speech testing is performed in an audiology visit.
At Flex VRA, we’re committed to modernizing pediatric audiology tools through engaging, flexible, and easy-to-use VRA system technology designed for today’s clinical environments.
